New Kid on the Bloc…

The Bloc Objects are a series of furniture pieces designed by Studio Polpo and built by us for Sheffield’s Bloc Projects. The desk/bar, storage and display units fit together and come apart to allow numerous configurations depending on how the gallery space is being used. These enable Bloc Projects to run their space as office, gallery and event space.

Studio Polpo were particularly keen to explore the material properties of solid surface, and visited our workshop to explore how the material is worked. Their design plays with the typical appearance of solid surface as a seamless and solid block of material, showing it’s thickness in places and revealing and contrasting the purity of the solid surface with the texture and colour of the OSB lining.
